HV Unions Recruit Apprentices Day 3: Water Systems Operations
Several local unions start apprenticeship drives in 2023, and the Hudson Valley Patches are featuring one a day this holiday week.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — New York City Environmental Protection will conduct another recruitment drive in 2023, for 13 Water Systems Operation Specialist apprentices, in addition to its drive for apprentices in wastewater systems.
Starting Jan. 1, applications can be obtained and completed online here during the recruitment period by typing Job ID 562175 in the search bar. All applications must be received no later than Dec. 31, 2023.
The committee requires that applicants:

- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED)
- Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License that meets agency requirements to operate company vehicles as needed.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
