Mariana Pavic, a dedicated Business Education teacher at Ossining High School (OHS), has been honored with the prestigious 23-24 Marsha W. Iverson New Business Education Award. This award, which highlights the outstanding contributions of new business educators, is a testament to Ms. Pavic's exemplary efforts and innovative approaches in the classroom during the early stages of her career.

Ms. Pavic has made significant strides in expanding the Business Education Department at OHS. Among her many accomplishments, she proposed and successfully implemented a Fashion Marketing course, adding a dynamic element to the school's business curriculum. In addition, she has laid the groundwork for a Real Estate course slated to begin in September 2025. Her commitment to academic excellence is further demonstrated by her role in establishing a Business and Marketing Honor Society at OHS.

As a co-advisor for DECA, Ms. Pavic played a pivotal role in doubling student enrollment in just three years, reflecting her ability to inspire and engage students. Her leadership was also crucial in securing an Ossining Matters grant, which will provide $2,500 to support the Business Club for the 2024–2025 school year.

Beyond the classroom, Ms. Pavic is an active member of the Business Teachers Association of New York State, where she serves as the Hudson Valley Director. Her civic contributions include assisting in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, where she helped increase the number of tax returns prepared by 100 compared to the previous year. Ms. Pavic also facilitated student participation in the Ossining Mobile Food Pantry and negotiated a special visit for Sports & Entertainment Marketing students to Yankee Stadium, complete with lunch at the Hard Rock Café, an opportunity made possible despite the district's Title I status.

"Business Education is a fundamental component for students learning and acquiring knowledge by motivating and promoting leadership skills for college and the workforce,” said Ms. Pavic, reflecting on her role in education. “Being a part of a student’s educational process has allowed me to see the growth, development, and potential of each student. Education is the key to success."

“Ms. Pavic is an incredibly dedicated educator who consistently seeks ways to uplift our students and expose them to various opportunities,” said Ms. Langley. “We have a small Business Department, but it is extremely active in providing our students with access to real-world opportunities, preparing them for the future. This recognition is truly well-deserved!”
