Ossining High School to Host First-Ever TEDx Event
TEDxOssining, Featuring Student Voices, Scheduled for May 2025

Ossining High School (OHS) is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural TEDx event—TEDxOssining High School Youth—a groundbreaking opportunity for students to share powerful, thought-provoking ideas on a global stage.
Scheduled for May 22, 2025, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the OHS Auditorium, the event will feature a lineup of inspiring speakers, including Ossining students and select participants from the MBK Collective across lower Westchester.
The theme, "Collective Ideas for Change: How we can use our diverse voices, perspectives, and cultures to share ideas that improve our community," highlights the power of collaboration and diversity in driving meaningful progress.

Mr. Brooks, who led the initiative to bring TEDx to OHS, is excited about the opportunities this event will provide. He believes it will serve as a platform to amplify students’ voices and encourage dialogue that strengthens the Ossining community.
“Ossining students have such unique perspectives to share, and participating in a TEDx event will be an incredible opportunity for them to inspire others,” said Mr. Brooks. “Our school’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths, providing students with the chance to learn from each other and share ideas that will make our community even more compassionate and inclusive.”

According to Mr. Brooks, TEDxOssining aims to represent a broad cross-section of students whose ideas will resonate throughout the community.
“Our vision is to make TEDxOssining a celebration of ideas that inspire change,” added Mr. Brooks. “By involving students from across our school and community, we hope to create a tradition that future generations of students can look forward to.”
Mr. Brooks, who delivered his own TEDx presentation, Higher Ed while Black: How students of color can thrive in college, at the University of Mount Saint Vincent in January 2024, is working closely with World Language teacher Dr. Oumar Sarr and the My Brother’s Keeper program to bring TEDxOssining to life.
“This is a moment of immense pride for Ossining High School,” said OHS Principal Latoya Langley. “TEDxOssining will empower our students to stand confidently as leaders, thinkers, and changemakers in their communities. I’m excited to see the powerful ideas our students will share on this prestigious platform.”
