Ossining Mom Crowdfunds New Bookstore Downtown

They plan to open Hudson Valley Books for Humanity in October as a space for new and used books, events, and local artisans.

OSSINING, NY — Hudson Valley Books for Humanity is coming to the historic Olive Opera House — and you can help.

It'll be on Brandreth Street "just steps away from Main Street." Watch the YouTube video that store founder Amy Hall made and you'll see just how beautiful, airy and spacious it's going to be.

Hall and her husband Rob Lowenthal are hard at work. The plan is to October 2021, selling new and used books, hosting events, and featuring products from local artisans and craftspeople.

"But first we have to cover our startup costs like inventory, rent, comfy furniture and air-conditioning," Hall said in the video.

Check out their crowdfunding site on indegogo.com. They've already got 102 backers, but they could use more. You could even have a bookshelf named after you!
