Ossining School District Launches “Here Today, Ready for Tomorrow” Campaign for Attendance Awareness Month

Students share powerful reminders that consistent attendance builds a strong foundation for academic success

The Ossining Union Free School District has launched its “Here Today, Ready for Tomorrow” campaign in recognition of Attendance Awareness Month, underscoring the importance of showing up to school every day, ready to learn.

The campaign began with a student-led video that reinforce the message to “Start September Strong,” reminding peers that missing just one day can quickly snowball into lost learning opportunities.

“Look, I get it. Sometimes you don’t feel like coming in. But missing one day turns into missing two. And the next thing, you’re lost. Start September strong,” one student urged in the video.

Another student added, “I never give up my spot on the field, in the classroom, or at the lunch table. Neither should you. Be here today, ready for tomorrow.”

The video also featured voices from across the district’s staff and faculty, highlighting the network of support available to students. Teachers, administrators, deans, social workers, psychologists, counselors, nurses, and principals all play a role in ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.

“We can all help,” staff members affirmed in the video, emphasizing that consistent attendance sets the foundation for academic success.

“When our students are present—whether in the classroom, on the stage, or on the field—they are building the skills and connections that will serve them for a lifetime,” said Dr. Ann Dealy, Director for Student Success. “This campaign is about encouraging strong habits at the start of the year and reminding families that we are here to support them.”

The “Here Today, Ready for Tomorrow” campaign is part of a broader district effort to ensure that every student feels connected, supported, and engaged from the very first day of school.

The district would like to thank the students who appeared in all campaign videos and helped spread the word by sharing attendance awareness posters throughout the community.
