To be selected for Area All-State, students had to achieve a near-perfect or perfect score on a Level 5 or 6 solo at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) music festival. In addition, each student received a recommendation from their high school band or orchestra director, a testament to their hard work, dedication, and outstanding musical abilities.
Ossining School District’s Director of Cultural Arts, Kate Mathews, praised both the students and the district’s music program for their outstanding accomplishments.
“The Area All-State selection is not only a testament to the incredible talents of our students but also to the strength and rigor of Ossining’s music program,” said Ms. Mathews. “Our dedicated teachers cultivate an environment where students can grow and excel as musicians, offering them numerous opportunities to hone their skills. We’re excited to see them represent us at this prestigious event!”
Nick Feigenbaum, OHS Orchestra Director, also highlighted the students’ achievement.
“We’re incredibly proud of our students for earning a spot at Area All-State,” said Mr. Feigenbaum. “Their commitment to musical excellence is inspiring, and this achievement reflects the hours of practice and passion they’ve put into perfecting their craft. I have no doubt that they will represent Ossining with pride and perform at the highest level alongside the top musicians in our region.”
The Area All-State concert will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at New Rochelle High School, where the students will showcase their talent and hard work alongside peers from schools across the county.
