Severe Storm Causes Power Outages in Ossining, Briarcliff, Chappaqua

Croton-on-Hudson will permit gas-powered leaf blowers for storm cleanup.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — The severe thunderstorms that blew through the region Wednesday night caused power outages across Ossining, Croton-on-Hudson, Briarcliff Manor and Chappaqua.

Con Ed estimated most of the 1,142 customers still out on Thursday morning would be restored by 8 p.m.

Ossining police asked residents to please use caution when driving as several utility crews are working to clear down trees, and repair wires.

Saw Mill River Road reopened in both directions in the area of Random Farms Drive after a tree down on the roadway was cleared, New Castle police reported.

Croton Village Manager Bryan Healy has authorized the use of gas-powered leaf blowers for storm cleanup Thursday through Saturday, in accordance with Chapter 160-4(I) of the Village Code.
