Crews Rescue Man After Sailboat Capsizes In Oyster Bay: Officials

The unidentified man was treated at the scene for possible hypothermia and taken to a local hospital, according to officials.

OYSTER BAY, NY — Crews rescued a man in a sailboat that capsized Sunday afternoon in Oyster Bay, according to Nassau County police.

It happened off the shore of Beekman Beach around 2:41 p.m.

Authorities say multiple people called 911 to report a man in distress standing on a capsized boat. Oyster Bay Constables rescued the man from the water while the county police's Marine Bureau recovered the sailboat and towed it back to shore.

The unidentified man was treated at the scene for possible hypothermia and taken to a local hospital, according to officials. They do not believe there were other passengers on the boat.
