OYSTER BAY, NY — Tired of front door solicitors and salespeople? Try a sticker.

The Town of Oyster Bay has created free stickers with the official town seal residents can put on their front doors. The stickers are waterproof vinyl placards reading "No soliciting" with official Oyster Bay insignia.

“Now more than ever, our Town residents wish to remain unbothered at home by the potential nuisance of door-to-door peddlers," Town Clerk Richard LaMarca said in an announcement.

The clerk also advised residents that the town tries to stay informed about nonprofit groups that go door-to-door, granting them town permits. Residents can then request to view the permits to check the legitimacy of the organization. It's not a law that organizations check in with the town, however, LaMarca explained.

Residents can order the stickers by contacting the town.
