Drunken Driver Crashes Into Pole In Bayville: Police

The crash caused power lines to come down on Tuesday evening, police say.

A Bayville man was arrested for DWI after he crashed into a utility pole on Tuesday evening, police say.

According to authorities, 39-year-old Steven Glozek was operating a black Chevrolet pick-up truck on Ludlam Avenue, at West Harbor Drive, when he struck a utility pole at 5:40 p.m. The pole broke off the base, causing power lines to come down.

Police arrived to the scene and found Glozek standing outside of the vehicle. Police say he had glassy, bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet.

He was placed under arrest and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Glozek was charged with driving while intoxicated. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
