Town Of Oyster Bay's Annual Bluefish Tournament Returns Sept. 12

Back for its 35th year, the Town of Oyster Bay's Bluefish Tournament is open to anglers of all ages.

OYSTER BAY, NY — Calling all anglers: The Town of Oyster Bay's annual Bluefish Tournament returns Sunday, Sept. 12.

Back for its 35th year, the tournament runs from 4:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to fishing fanatics of all ages.

"The Bluefish Tournament is a great all-day sporting event with wonderful prizes and great camaraderie," said Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino. "Join us for this fun day of tranquility on the water, the adrenaline rush of feeling that first big tug on your fishing line, and the spirit of competition as you try to beat the tournament record of 19.75 pounds."

All contestants must be pre-registered. The entrance fee is $35 for Town of Oyster Bay residents and $50 for non-residents. Registration is limited to the first 350 boats. All those who register before Sept. 6 will receive a tournament t-shirt, according to Town officials. All contestants will automatically be entered in a raffle.

Along with plaques, first- through 10th-place winners will receive gift certificates. First place gets $1,000, second place gets $750, third place gets $500, fourth place gets $400, fifth and sixth places get $300, and seventh through 10th places get $100. Raffle winners must be present to receive their prizes, which will be presented at a tailgate party at 4 p.m.
