UPDATE: Amber Alert Canceled for 3-Year-Old Girl Abducted by Father in NYC

UPDATE, 5:15 p.m.: New Jersey State Police say they stopped the Dodge Caravan on the Garden State Parkway in Clifton and took the suspect into custody. His 3-year-old girl is reportedly ”safe with New Jersey State Troopers.”

New York State officials have issued an amber alert for 3-year-old Rebecca Valenzuela, who police say was abducted by her father, 51-year-old Diomedes Valenzuela, after he repeatedly stabbed his 31-year-old wife, the girl’s mother.

The domestic dispute occurred on Tuesday around 1:45 p.m. inside 2974 Perry Avenue in the Bronx, police say.

According to the NYPD, the suspect then fled with the young girl in a grey 2004 Dodge Caravan with the New Jersey license plate number #K24-ECS.

Valenzuela‘s vehicle was last seen traveling on the George Washington Bridge, possibly heading for New Jersey, state officials said.

The girl is described by authorities as Hispanic with black hair and brown eyes, standing at approximately 2 feet 6 inches and weighing about 30 pounds.

The girl’s mother is reportedly in critical condition at St. Barnabas Hospital.
