Brooklyn Man Possibly Stabbed Himself to Death in Pagan Ritual

Jonathan Rennie's wife reportedly told police he was a practicing pagan and used his knife as a ritual.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — A 31-year-old man was found stabbed to death in his Sunset Park residence in what some news reports are calling a pagan-related suicide.

Jonathan Rennie was found on the 800 block of 50th Street around 3 a.m. Jan. 31, with multiple stab wounds to the torso, according to a police news release. He was transported to the Maimonides Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the NY Post, Rennie’s wife told police he practiced paganism and used the knife as a ritual to stab himself. She also mentioned he had taken LSD in the past, the Post reported.

Police could not confirm whether or not paganism was a factor in the incident. However, a police spokeswoman told Patch: “Right now it’s leaning toward a suicide, but police are still determining that in an ongoing investigation.”

A knife was recovered at the scene, police said, and no arrests have been made.
