Driver Accused of Killing Park Slope Kids Commits Suicide: Report
Dorothy Bruns is thought to have suffered a seizure while driving.

PARK SLOPE, NY – The woman accused of killing two children after running a red light and plowing across a pedestrian crossing in Park Slope has died of an apparent suicide, the New York Post reported Tuesday.
Dorothy Bruns, 44, who suffered from multiple sclerosis, was found in her Staten Island home surrounded by bottle of prescription pills, the newspaper reported.
She had been charged with killing Joshua Lew, 1, and Abigail Blumenstein, 4. She also hit the children's mothers. Abigail's mom, Broadaway star Ruthie Ann Miles, was pregnant and later lost her unborn child.

Her car crashed into the pedestrians as they crossed Ninth Street and Fourth Avenue in March. The car kept moving before it slammed into an unoccupied car, according to police and reports. It is thought Bruns had suffered a seizure.
Her doctor had instructed her not to drive, police said.

Bruns had been charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, reckless endangerment, assault and reckless driving and had been freed on bail.
