Driver Who Killed 2 Park Slope Kids May Get Plea Deal: Report

Dorothy Bruns was in court Wednesday.

PARK SLOPE, NY – A woman who suffered a seizure while driving in Park Slope, jumping a red light and killing two children, may be offered a plea deal by prosecutors, the New York Post reported.

Dorothy Bruns had been told by doctors not to drive because she was prone to seizures due to her multiple sclerosis. On March 5, she hit and killed Joshua Lew, 1, and Abigail Blumenstein, 4, and injured their mothers on Ninth Street at Fourth Avenue.

Abigail's mom, Broadway actress Ruthie Ann Miles, later lost her unborn baby.

In court Wednesday, Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun asked prosecutors to prepare a plea offer and return with it in October, according to the Post.

It's unclear what the deal could be or if Bruns has any intention of accepting it.

Bruns is being held in Rikers and faces 15 years in prison if convicted of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, reckless endangerment, assault and reckless driving.

Outside court, her lawyer David Jacobs told the Post, “She’s a broken person, too.

“She has four grown children. She cries for them and for the thought she could have endangered them as well.”
