Why Go: Meeting in a Mexican barrio in Arizona, fellow Iowans David Huckfelt and Benson Ramsey began playing music together, forming The Pines. Committing to a musical career, they returned to their Midwestern roots and settled in Minneapolis, a music haven that has launched the careers of such folk and rock legends as Bob Dylan.

Why Go: The great pianist Geri Allen and the world-renowned photographer and video artist Carrie Mae Weems team up for this special world premiere commission. Slow Fade To Black combines Weems’ arresting projections with an astonishing night of music featuring Allen’s new trio with fellow jazz giants Esperanza Spalding and Terri Lyne Carrington.

Why Go: Learn the fundamentals of one of the world’s most dramatic dances with a professional dancer. The class consists of two sessions: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for beginners and 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. for advanced.

Why Go: Treat Dad on Father's Day, and bring him to brunch or dinner at Palo Santo. Dad's drink a free beer with their prix-fixe.

Where/When: , Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Why Go: Join civil rights, faith, labor and community groups in a silent march against NYC’s “Stop and Frisk” policy. On Father’s Day, groups will stand together against “victimization by racial profiling.” Meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Grand Army Plaza 2/3 train. The march begins at 3 p.m. on 110th Street west of Fifth Ave. in Manhattan.
