WATCH: Hillary Clinton Appears on 'Broad City' Wednesday

During a conversation at SXSW, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer explained how they booked Clinton on the show.

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Former secretary of state Hillary Clinton appears in the latest episode of the Brooklyn-set “Broad City,” airing Wednesday, March 16 on Comedy Central.

The slapstick feminist stoner comedy series is a hit with the 18-to-34 demographic, an audience that Clinton has been trying to capture throughout her presidential campaign. Clinton is polling ahead of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in North Carolina, Florida, Illinois and Ohio, according to the latest Real Clear Politics polling data. Sanders has received strong support from younger voters, though. Sanders’ surprise victory in Michigan was due in part to voters between the ages of 18 to 29, 81 percent of whom voted for Sanders.

During a conversation with Marie Claire editor-in-chief Anne Fulenwider at SXSW Saturday, March 12, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer (co-stars/creators/writers of “Broad City”) explained how they ended up booking Clinton on the show.

“We had come up with this idea that Ilana’s character would find the Hillary campaign in some way and be a part of it,” explained Abbi Jacobson writer/executive producer/actor on “Broad City.”

Through a number of channels, the creative team behind “Broad City” (including executive producer Amy Poehler, who previously played the former secretary of state on SNL), reached out to Clinton’s camp.
