Meet Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez Wednesday In Park Slope
Gonzalez will appear at a meet-and-greet with other local elected officials.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Park Slopers and people in the surrounding area will have a chance to meet Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez on Wednesday in the neighborhood.
Gonzalez and other local elected officials are hosting a meet and greet at Camp Friendship on Eighth Street from 7 to 9 p.m.
Gonzalez took over as acting district attorney in October 2016, following the death of Ken Thompson, who was known as one of the most progressive district attorneys in the country. He is up for re-election in September's Democratic primary.

City Councilman Brad Lander and Assemblyman Bobby Carroll are hosting the event.
"You’ll have a chance for yourself to meet Eric and learn why Brad & Bobby are supporting him for reelection so that he can the work he is doing for our communities," the event description reads.

Last month, Gonzalez reported that crime in Brooklyn was on pace for "record lows" in 2017.
"Brooklyn is lucky to have Eric Gonzalez serving as our District Attorney," the page for Wednesday's event reads. "He’s built upon Ken Thompson’s progressive legacy -- and will continue to increase public safety for Brooklynites, while reducing our reliance on incarceration."
