New Coffee Cart Hits Prospect Park With Island-Inspired Sips
A woman-owned coffee cart serves affordable drinks and pastries at the park through September and will open year-round next month.

PARK SLOPE, NY — A popular coffee shop just outside the park is bringing a new cart inside as part of efforts to boost snacks in "Brooklyn’s Backyard."
Brooklyn favorite Hibiscus Brew has launched its new mobile cart, “The Bloom,” now open at the Bartel Pritchard Entrance. The cart offers a fresh menu of refreshing drinks, smoothies, coffees, teas, pastries, and grab-and-go snacks.
Currently operating during select hours through September, “The Bloom” is set to open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting Oct. 1, officials said.

"Prospect Park Alliance is dedicated to bringing healthy and affordable food options to Brooklyn’s Backyard, and Hibiscus Brew is a vibrant and beloved local staple of our community," Morgan Monaco, the Prospect Park Alliance President said. "I am especially proud to welcome this Black-owned, female-founded sustainable business, which will be an exciting addition to the food and drink offerings in Prospect Park and will help fuel all in our community to be their happiest and healthiest selves."
Hibiscus Brew’s island-inspired menu, rooted in Jamaican flavors and handcrafted in Brooklyn, offers a refreshing wellness stop in Brooklyn’s Backyard. Whether you’re craving a post-run smoothie, a tangy sorrel drink, or a tropical juice to sip while strolling through the park, the new cart has you covered.

"We at Hibiscus Brew always aim to create joy through food," said Allison Dunn, Owner and Founder, Hibiscus Brew. "Just like spending time in Prospect Park, food has the power to uplift your mood, body, and soul. We are honored to partner with Prospect Park Alliance to help Brooklynites prioritize joy in their lives through nourishing food and drink options."
The new coffee carts are two of several food options that the alliance is helping to bring to the park, including an outpost of Winner, a beloved Park Slope bakery and cafe (that will also serve alcohol).
The park alliance has helped bring in other snack offerings, including King David Tacos at Grand Army Plaza, Duck Island Cafe, Poetica Coffee, Purslane Cafe, and a (seasonal) Smorgasburg outpost to Breeze Hill.
