'Oath Keeper' Running For Park Slope Seat In City Council: Report

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Buzzfeed News describes City Council District 39 candidate Brett Wynkoop as a man who embodies a handful of stereotypical liberal traits.
However, there's one exception — he's a member of the Oath Keepers, a "right-wing extremist group" with ties to the Jan 6. riots at the U.S. Capitol, the news outlet said.
Wynkoop is running for Council Member Brad Lander's seat on the Conservative Party ticket, according to the Brooklyn Conservative Party's website.

He's a systems engineer and a longtime member of the Oath Keepers — a group that takes its name from the oath to uphold the Constitution sworn by members of law enforcement and the military, Buzzfeed News reported.
And he's running in a district that voted 98.5 percent Democratic the last time the 39th District seat was open, according to the news outlet.
