Photo of the Day: Humongous Snail Attacks Park Slope

This palm-sized mollusk was slurping along Garfield Place.

After a recent wet day, just as the rain stopped and the sun poked out from the clouds, this huge gastropoda slowly slurped between Eighth Avenue and Prospect Park West.

Although we have seen , this land snail was massive and as big as a hand without fingers.

If you didn't know this already, snails have many of their organs inside their shells, including their stomach, kidney, liver, lung and heart. Also, most land gastropods are hermaphrodites.
