Police Blotter: Crook Punches Woman and Steals Wallet on Fourth Ave.

Woman Punched and Robbed on Fourth Ave.

A violent robber punched a woman in the face while she was walking down to the subway on Fourth Avenue and stole her wallet, iPod, and a dictionary on Jan. 1.

The 56-year-old victim told police that she was walking down the stairs to the R train, on the northeast corner of Fourth Avenue and Union Street, at around 10:15 p.m. when a man snatched her pocketbook. The robber, described as a 20-year-old black man, standing about 5-foot-8, and weighing about 130 lbs., then punched the woman in the face multiple times. The crook got away with her wallet, credit and debit cards, iPod, and a dictionary. Surveillance cameras on the street may have tapped the assault and robbery.

A thief stole a woman’s green card, social security card, and credit cards from her purse while shopping in a store on Fifth Avenue on Jan. 3.

The 49-year-old victim told police that she was shopping in DII, near Ninth Street, when she left her purse unattended at around 1:45 p.m. in an isle. When she went back for her bag 15 minutes later, she found that it was open and someone had stolen her green card, social security card, three credit cards, and a debit card. 

Thief Robs Fresh Direct Truck

A quick-handed thief stole $1,300 in electronics from a food delivery truck in the middle of the day on Eighth Avenue Jan. 4.

The 38-year-old driver, an employee of Fresh Direct, told police that he parked his truck between President and Union streets but did not lock the doors. He left his truck at around 1:15 p.m., but when he returned six minutes later he found that someone had stolen his cellphone/scanner worth $1,300. 

Crook Steals $1,200 in Cash

A sneaky thief stole a woman’s purse from her desk at a Second Avenue business and got away with $1,200 in cash on Jan. 4.

The 47-year-old victim told police that she put her purse in her desk while working at Empire Cabinet and Marble Inc., between 12th and 13th streets, but then left for a while. When the employee came back to her desk, she found that someone had stolen her pure. The crook, who was caught on surveillance video, can be seen opening the desk drawer and removing the bag. The crook got away with a few debit and credit cards, her identification, and $1,200 in cash.
