Police Blotter: Crook Racks Up $7K on Woman’s Credit Card

$7K in Fraudulent Credit Card Charges

An identity thief racked up over $7,000 on a Park Slope woman’s credit card between June 7 to July 3.

The 33-year-old victim told cops that she could not find her card credit card and realized someone was making fraudulent charges. She cancelled the card on July 3, but the thief was still able to make $7,589 in charges.

Motorcycle Jacked

A crook boosted a man’s motorcycle from its parking spot on Degraw Street sometime between July 8 and 9.

The 41-year-old victim told police that he parked his gray Yamaha between Fourth and Fifth avenues at around 10 p.m. on July 8. The man also said that he did not chain his motorbike to anything, nor did he have an alarm. The next day, at around 10:30 a.m., the man went to get his motorcycle, but it was gone.

Identity Credit Card Scam

A crook used a Park Slope man’s identity to open credit cards at a bank, two department stores and an electronics store in June and charged $1,500 on one of them on July 7. 

The 31-year-old victim told police that the identity thief opened credit cards at Citi Bank, Radio Shack, Macy’s and JC Penny on June 23 without him knowing. The crook racked up $1,500 at JC Penny in early July on the card in the victim’s name. When the victim found out, he canceled all four cards.
