Police Blotter: Man Hits Another Man with Car During Dispute

Road Rage

A man was arrested for intentionally hitting another man with his car on Nevins Street on May 16.

The 59-year-old victim told police that he was in a verbal dispute with the man near Warren Street when he intentionally put his car in reverse, striking the victim’s right leg at around 5 p.m. The victim was in a substantial amount of pain and was brought to Long Island College Hospital.

The driver, who is 51 years old, was arrested and charged with felony assault.

Bad Envelope

A crook stole an envelope containing nearly $4,000 from a car parked on Third Avenue on May 16.

The 30-year-old victim told police that his friend parked his car on Third Avenue, between President and Union streets, at around 1 a.m. The driver left the white envelope in the four-door Pontiac. When the friend returned to the car at about 10:40 p.m., he found that the passenger side window was smashed and the envelope stuffed with $3,810 was gone.  

Gym Rat

A thief stole a cell phone, credit cards and cash from a woman’s locker while she was working out at a Ninth Street gym on May 17.

The victim told police that she locked her possessions inside her locker at the YMCA and went to work out at around 6:50 p.m. When she returned at around 8 p.m. her lock was still intact and secured, but the contents were missing. The thief got away with one debit card, two credit cards, a cell phone and $50 cash.

Two-Bit Driller

A crook broke into a luxury car parked on Sixth Avenue and stole a debit card, credit cards and a birth certificate on May 17.

The 51-year-old victim told police that he parked his tan BMW between 13th and 14th streets at around 3 p.m. When he returned he found that the driver’s side lock was drilled and that his wallet was missing along with his debit card, credit card, social security card and birth certificate.

Stealing from a Nurse

A sneaky crook stole a nurse’s credit card from her locker at New York Methodist Hospital on May 17.

The 46-year-old victim told police that she locked her belongings in her locker in the hospital on Seventh Avenue at the beginning of her shift at around 4 p.m. When she returned to her locker, which was still secured, it was empty at 8 p.m. The crook made off with her credit card and bag.
