Pop-Up Cafe By Sweatshop Coffee Owners Opens In Park Slope

The pop-up, dubbed Lil' Sister, will have Australian-inspired dishes with a "flexible" workspace, gallery and events space.

PARK SLOPE, NY — A pop-up cafe and gallery space by the owners of Williamsburg's Sweatshop Coffee opened in Park Slope last week on the ground-floor of a Flatbush Avenue building, developers announced.

The pop-up, dubbed Lil' Sister, took over 2,000-square-feet of space at 336 Flatbush Ave. Wednesday for the shop, according to developers Sugar Hill Capital Partners. Aside from coffee, the space will have a multi-purpose gallery and event spot to host different showcases throughout the year and a "flexible workspace," the company said in a release.

"As Australian natives, our goal was to create an all-encompassing, collaborative space for people to both relax and feel inspired, while also paying homage to Melbourne’s distinct coffee culture," said Sweatshop co-owner Ryan De Remer in a statement.

About one-third of the Lil' Sister will be a cafe — with Counter Culture coffee and Australian dishes like Muesli — with the other set aside for the gallery, owners said. The pop-up was designed and custom built by Sweatshop owners De Remer and Luke Woodard as "a curated concept meets gallery experience, a departure from the standard café format," according to the release.

The ground-floor of 336 Flatbush Ave. previously hosted Wifey last year which was a "pop-up gallery-with-food-slash-bistro-with-art" and lots of flowers, the Village Voice reported.
