The family members were also active members of Park Slope United Methodist Church.
"Along with their musical gifts, which they shared freely, they were fierce, non-violent, social activists who worked with the Social Action Committee at PSUMC to address racism, power, and privilege through the Dismantling Racism Coalition," the church wrote recently of the family on Facebook. "Whether it was supporting the rights of the LGBTQ community by marching in Brooklyn Pride, Manhattan Pride, or in Washington DC at the Capital or working tirelessly to support anti-war legislation, or taking a stand for our environment, they fought for the rights for all to have equal access to love, peace and respect through the good works of our Social Action Committee."
The Mulvaneys also provided financial support to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund, which assists church members in financial need.
Specifically, money raised from the concert will support both the Social Action Committee and the Discretionary Fund, organizers said.
