SEE: Bar That Brought Axe-Throwing To US Expands To BK
The first New York City location for famed hatchet-throwing bar Stumpy's will open at Industry City in September.

BROOKLYN, NY — An axe-throwing spot famed as the first of its kind in the country will celebrate another first with its debut in New York City.
Stumpy's Hatchet House, which features hatchet-throwing and various bar games, is opening its first New York City location at Brooklyn's Industry City complex.
The business will set up a 12,000-square-foot venue in Industry City's Building 7 on 34th Street, set to open Sept. 2, the complex announced this week.

“Our goal at Stumpy’s is to create an environment where you feel like you’re hanging out in someone’s yard,” Stumpy's Brooklyn co-owner Keith Hughes said. “There’s nothing quite like the vibe of Industry City in all of New York, and it just made sense, as a native Brooklynite, to bring Stumpy’s to Industry City.”
Stumpy's — which has locations across the Northeast, as well as Florida, Texas and California — was first opened in 2016 in New Jersey by two couples who found themselves throwing axes at a makeshift bullseye on a tree that came down during Superstorm Sandy, according to the website.

At their venues, parties are assigned to an AXE-pert Throw Coach and taught the game in one of Stumpy's throwing pits.
The Brooklyn venue will include 14 socially-distanced throwing pits, each with two targets, as well as foosball, corn hole, shuffleboard, giant Jenga and TV screens to watch major sporting events. The 700-square foot bar will be available for food and beverages.
Stumpy's will include fellow Industry City tenants like Table 87 and, for larger groups and special events, catering options by Sahadi’s, Hometown Barbeque & Seasoned by Shalini.
The bar will follow New York City's recent Key to NYC vaccine mandate and will sanitize all pits and hatchets before and after each group.
Special events or large groups can reserve time at the bar on Mondays through Wednesdays. It will be open to walk-ins Thursdays through Sundays.
