Van Driver Strikes 50-Year-Old In Park Slope, Critical Condition: NYPD
The pedestrian was hit at Seventh Avenue and 15th Street on Monday night, according to police.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A pedestrian was hit by a driver of a van on a Park Slope street Tuesday night, leaving the victim in critical condition, according to police.
A driver in a 2008 Ford Econoline van slammed into the 50-year-old pedestrian at Seventh Avenue and 15th Street at just before 8 p.m., police said.
The victim was brought to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in critical condition, according to officials. As of Wednesday morning, there was no update to his condition.

The NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad claims that the driver was traveling north on Seventh Avenue and made a left-hand turn onto 15th Street when the 21-year-old man driving the large utility van crashed into the pedestrian.
It remains unclear if there is any video documentation of the crash to support the preliminary investigation.

Police officials said the young driver remained at the scene and no charges have been filed.
According to Crash Mapper and DOT data, there was one other crash in 2020 at this intersection due to an improper turn. Over the past decade, there have been seven total crashes at the location resulting in eight injuries, including five pedestrians.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
