‘Xanadu’ Performing Tonight at The Old Stone House in Washington Park!

“Xanadu,” the Broadway hit based on the 1980 roller disco-cum-big band movie is coming to Park Slope tonight.

The show, , tells the story of a Greek muse, named Clio, who comes to Earth to inspire a young artist to renovate an abandoned dance hall as a roller disco — with the help of a retired clarinetist, and, of course, Zeus.

Performances will be held Thursdays and Fridays in July from the 5th to the 20th at 8 p.m. at the Old Stone House and 4th Street Cul-De-Sac, where actors will take to a 32-foot long and 16-foot deep bowl to skate and sing the night away.

The director, John McEneny, said he is looking forward to tonight's show.

“It has taken a year to make these productions happen. Today has been a blur of activity: the lighting equipment is set up right, sound is checked, the muse dresses are dry cleaned, the concession stands are being restocked, the wheels on the skates are tightened, and everyone here at Piper is more excited than humanly possible,” McEneny told Patch. “Tonight promises to be a big crowd. It is going to be so much fun!”

To really get into the 1980s bacchanalian spirit of the show, Piper Theater encourages audience members to wear spangly neon outfits with an emphasis on white polyester.
