DWI Charge After 1 Seriously Hurt In Crash On Sunrise Highway Service Road: Police

Both drivers were taken to a local hospital, one in serious condition, while the other was charged with DWI, Suffolk police say.

NORTH PATCHOGUE, NY — A woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated after a North Patchogue crash seriously hurt a man early Wednesday morning, Suffolk police said.

Aleshia Davis was driving a 2024 Audi Q7 southbound on Route 112 when it struck an
eastbound 2011 Hyundai Sonata at the intersection of Sunrise Highway South Service Road at around 12:35 a.m., according to police.

Davis, 39, of Medford, was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries, police said, adding that the driver of the Hyundai, a 41-year-old Shirley man, was also taken there but for treatment of serious injuries.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.

The North Patchogue crash is the last of three serious crashes over about 15 hours in eastern Suffolk County. The first took place at around 2 p.m. in North Bellport where a bicyclist was struck. A woman was also struck in a hit-and-run in Bohemia at around 5:30 a.m.
