1 Injured As Vehicle Careens Across Traffic On Sunrise Highway: Police

The man suffered a medical emergency, and his vehicle went across two lanes of traffic before landing in the woods, cops say.

EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — A man suffered a medical emergency while driving and his vehicle went across two lanes of traffic in the opposite direction on Sunrise Highway in East Patchogue on Wednesday morning, Suffolk police said.

The man, who was alone, suffered a medical emergency while inside his 2019 Kia, which was traveling eastbound and it crossed the median, going across the westbound lanes and into the woods about one mile west of Hospital Road at around 10:14 a.m., according to police.

He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
