2 Officers Hurt On Long Island Placing Attempted Robbery Suspect In Custody: Police

They were treated at Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for non-life-threatening injuries, Suffolk police say.

PATCHOGUE, NY — Two officers were hurt Wednesday night in a scuffle with a man under arrest for attempted robbery at Ultimate Gas Station in Patchogue, Suffolk police said.

Officers responded to the West Main Street location at around 7:15 p.m., after an attendant there reported a man tried to swipe merchandise and flashed a weapon, police said, adding that when officers tried to take the man into custody, he fought with them.

The two officers were treated at Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Justin Delgago, 34, of Huntington was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and one count each of first-degree attempted robbery, resisting arrest, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

He was treated for minor injuries at the same hospital as the officers, a police spokesman said.
