20 Helped After 3 Fire Disasters In Eastern Suffolk: American Red Cross
They affected 5 households in Port Jefferson Station, Shirley, and North Bellport; Arson detectives investigating two, authorities say.
BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Twenty people were helped after fire disasters in Brookhaven Town since last week, the American Red Cross said Tuesday.
In the first fire on Wednesday, 12 people from three households on Canal Road in Port Jefferson Station were helped. Suffolk police said that no one was injured, and Arson Squad detectives are investigating.
Then one household with three people was helped after a fire on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley later that day, though further details were not available.

Another household of five people was helped after a fire on Taylor Avenue in North Bellport on Monday. The Arson Squad is also investigating this fire, according to police.
The Red Cross' Long Island Disaster Action Team gave emergency financial assistance help, meeting the families’ immediate needs.

The organization typically provides information packets about recovery resources and guidance, cleanup kits, comfort kits with personal care items, snacks, waters, and other items as needed.
Caseworkers will also continue to work with families to connect them with additional resources for long-term recovery needs.
