Bellport Man Charged In String Of Nassau Thefts: Police
He took items from stores like Home Depot, Lowe's, Home Goods, Target, and Dick's Sporting Goods, Nassau police say.
NASSAU COUNTY, NY — A Bellport man was arrested Wednesday in connection to a string of seven thefts in Nassau County dating back to June 2022, Nassau police said.
Emmitt Smith, 43, was arrested and charged with six counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and four counts of petty larceny, according to police.
He is first accused of stealing from Kohl's in Massapequa in June 2022, then not again until the following March at Lowe's in Hicksville, police said, adding that the string continued in June at Home Depot in Jericho. Between July 6 and Aug. 5, he is alleged to have stolen from Home Goods in Merrick, Lowe's and Target in Hicksville, then Dick's Sporting Goods at Sunrise Mall in Massapequa, police said.

He is also alleged to have stolen from Home Depot and Macy's at Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, and Ulta Beauty in Massapequa, according to police.
Smith has been previously arrested a total of 46 times, including 15 felony arrests and 31 misdemeanor arrests, police said.

He was scheduled for arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
