Bogus $100 Bills Passed To 2 Patchogue Businesses: Chamber of Commerce

Both bills were passed undetected by counterfeit pens on Oct. 11, Executive Director Silvana Aloisio.

PATCHOGUE, NY — The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce issued a warning to members on Friday after two retail businesses were passed fake $100 bills.

Executive Director Silvana Aloisio told Patch that The Colony Shop, which sells children's apparel and other related items, and Blum's, which sells swimsuits, were given the bills on Oct. 11, though neither business could be sure what transactions they were for.

The bogus bills were not detected using counterfeit detector pens, according to Aloisio.
