Brookhaven Town Police Blotter: Oct. 21 to Oct. 27, 2024
This is a snapshot of the arrests the Suffolk County Police Department's officers have made across the township.
BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Suffolk's first responders were kept busy this week, from ShotSpotter activations to a house party and a boy threatened while riding his bicycle, according to the department's logs.
Here's a snapshot from Oct. 21 to Oct. 27:
MASTIC

Officers found bullet shell casings after responding to a call for shots fired on Riviera Drive in Mastic at around 3 p.m. on Thursday, police said.
There were no injuries, and no property damage, according to police.

It was the third shooting within the span of a day in Mastic, police said.
Police previously told Patch that shell casings were found from shootings within minutes of each other on Wednesday morning.
ShotSpotter was first activated at the intersection of Somerset Avenue and Robinwood Street at 1:50 a.m., and one shell casing was found, according to police.
ShotSpotter was also activated, and shell casings were found on nearby Pawnee Avenue between Bullard Street and Hawthorne Avenue at around 1:54 a.m., police said.
No one was injured.
Det. Mathias Arnold is asking residents forward any vehicle or pedestrian traffic between 1:45 a.m. and 2:10 a.m. that was captured on their camera systems to him. He can be reached by email at mathias.arnold@suffolkcountyny.gov.
Any assistance will be appreciated, according to Arnold.
Investigators are "hoping to prevent any future similar acts from occurring," he said.

Also in Mastic:
- A storm door was ripped off and a Craftsman compressor and chop saw was stolen from a home on Dogwood Road at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, police said.
- Someone pried open a boarded-up window and swiped medication from a business on Poospatuck Lane at around 2 a.m. on Friday, police said.
EAST PATCHOGUE
A 34-year-old Patchogue man was charged with assault after police say he struck a Long Island Community Hospital worker in the face when she was trying to help him go to the bathroom on Wednesday. The woman experienced swelling on her face, according to police.
BELLPORT
A 14-year-old boy reported he was threatened while riding his bicycle on Sunrise Service Road on Friday, police said. At about 4:20 p.m., a gray sedan with three males approached him and yelled threats at him, according to police.
A man told officers that another man threatened him with an air rifle in an argument on Neighborhood Road in Mastic Beach on Thursday, police said. He did not wish to press charges.
MEDFORD
A Medford man with a prior criminal conviction was arrested in connection with having a pair of brass knuckles during the execution of a search warrant on Oct. 24, police said. Michael Haynes, 57, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to police. His arraignment information was not available.
MIDDLE ISLAND
A resident of Artist Lake told officers that a neighbor was not taking care of their dog on Wednesday, police said. The matter is now under investigation, according to police.
PATCHOGUE
A 48-year-old Patchogue man was arrested in connection with flashing a gun at someone on East Main Street back in September, police said. He pulled the gun from the waistband of his pants and threatened the person on Sept. 14, according to police. He was charged with second-degree menacing with a weapon.
PORT JEFFERSON STATION
A man reported being threatened by a group of males, one of whom waived a handgun at him, on Old Town Road in Port Jefferson Station on Friday, police said. He told officers that he was approached by the group, whom he did not know, in a parking lot, and one pointed the gun at him and threatened him just before 3 p.m., according to police.
SHIRLEY
- A large house party in Shirley drew attention from police early Saturday morning, a police spokesperson said. Officers were called to a Clyde Road home around 12:30 a.m., and upon arrival, the crowd dispersed, according to police. No arrests were made.
- A man told officers that he was punched in the face by a man who fled in a vehicle in Shirley early Saturday morning, police said. He was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue by the Shirley Ambulance Company just before 2 a.m., according to police.
