Dump Truck Overturns On Long Island Expressway: Police

The driver, a man, was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment of minor injuries, Suffolk police say.

YAPHANK, NY — A 1998 Peterbilt dump truck overturned on eastbound Long Island Expressway in Yaphank, snarling traffic on Friday, Suffolk police said.

It happened about a half-mile west of Exit 68 at around 11 a.m., according to police.

The driver, a man, was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment of minor injuries, police said. The state Department of Environmental Services responded for a diesel spill., according to police.

The road was closed from around 1 p.m. until 2:35 p.m., police said.
