DWI Charge For LI Man After Vehicle Sideswipes Police Cruiser: PD
He continued driving eastbound until he was pulled over and arrested by the Street Takeover Taskforce, Suffolk police say.
YAPHANK, NY — A 25-year-old Coram man was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident involving a police vehicle in Yaphank on Friday, Suffolk police said.
An officer driving a marked highway patrol vehicle eastbound in the right lane of Sunrise Highway, approaching Exit 57, was struck by a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe that sideswiped the police vehicle from the left lane, just before midnight, police said, adding that the driver continued driving eastbound until he was pulled over by the officer and arrested by members of the Street Takeover Task Force.
The officer was not injured, according to police.

The Coram man was held overnight in the 5th Precinct in Patchogue, police said.
He pleaded not guilty and was released without bail at his arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, online court records show.
