The Hero Joint Opens In Patchogue

A good place to grab a quick sub on the fly.

John Murray said he noticed downtown Patchogue was lacking a "quick sandwich spot."

"We needed a place where someone could walk in, order a sandwich and some chips, and have it delivered in 5 minutes or less," he said.

Last month, Murray opened The Hero Joint to fill the void and provide the area with delicious heroes he said are "quick" and can "easily be taken on the go."

Murray said his family has been in the food and beverage industry his entire life, operating different locations across Long Island.

He operates the ice cream and chocolate shop Kilwins in Babylon and right behind to the Hero Joint in Patchogue.

Murray said the Hero Joint, located at 74 B East Main Street, is different than other local competitors.

"What separates us from many of our local competitors is we are not serving any one brand of meat or cheese," he said. "Some of the more well-known brands are full of fillers, additives, and even carcinogens. We basically selected the best meat and the best cheeses we could find without being restrained by having to use all one brand. We offer the best pastrami and corned beef New York City has to offer."

Murray also said the roast beef, which is certified angus choice, is made in-house, "which many places do not do."

"Our ham is a carving style ham, one you would basically get at a wedding carving station," he said. "Our breads are high quality, delivered fresh daily. Our menu is very concise. We do that so we can produce a limited amount of severely fresh items."

The Hero Joint is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
