More Than 250 Turkey Meals Given Out At Suffolk Sheriff's Office Thanksgiving Event
The meals, including all the trimmings, like gravy, stuffing, and sides, were given out to pre-selected families, sheriff's office says.
YAPHANK, NY — The Suffolk County Sheriff's office on Thursday handed out more than 250 holiday meals to the needy at the department's annual Thanksgiving food distribution in Yaphank.
The meals, which included all the trimmings, like gravy, stuffing, and sides, were given out at the START Resource Center to pre-selected families during a drive-thru event. Families in need of holiday meal help were identified by the START Center and their partner non-profit service agencies to guarantee that they can receive a free Thanksgiving meal.
Sheriff Errol Toulon said that “with the cost of groceries and household expenses on the rise, more and more of our neighbors are in need."
