Long Island Man 'Touched Himself Inappropriately' In Front Of Girl, 11, At Park: Cops

It happened just before 4 p.m. at Halls Pond Park, police say.

WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY — A West Hempstead man was charged with public lewdness on Saturday after Nassau police say he touched himself inappropriately in front of an 11-year-old girl at Halls Pond Park.

The girl and her father saw the man "inappropriately touching himself" just before 4 p.m., and officers found Avigdor Goldemberg, 31, and placed him under arrest "without incident," police said.

Goldemberg is charged with public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.

He was released on an appearance ticket returnable on Oct. 10 at First District Court in Hempstead.

Police are encouraging anyone who feels as though they may be the victim of a similar incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS, a confidential police hotline.
