Opinion: South Country Deli First Class Deli

The South Country Deli is open at 5 AM every morning and closes at 3 PM seven days a week. They have been serving the local community almost 3 years. They do catering as well as running a first class friendly Delicatessen.

Service is fast friendly yet efficient. The sandwiches are prepared and presented with generous portions.

The selection is vast and quite frankly The South Country Deli has become my go to deli. Take the time to sample what I have writing about. They are conveniently located on the 740 South Country Road Between Dunton Ave and Union Ave between Bellport Village and East Patchogue. It is a very friendly turn in and they have ample easy parking.

Regular Dane Hartman says, “I come almost daily, great food, great service, great place! They treat me like family.”

The Deli ownEd by Phil Valot and Melinda Valot the husband and wife team who actually grew up going to this deli (under other ownership) growing up. Melinda said, “My husband grew up on Dunton and I grew up on Bieselin both as close to here as you can get. We know our neighbors and we are enjoying tremendous local support.

I must admit when I walked into this “Deli” it wasn’t to write this piece but quite frankly the very short time I spent waiting for my toasted bagel and coffee caught my attention. The warm friendly banter with crazy nick names like “Flip Flops,” and the true genuine connections between obviously happy local customers, the ownerships and the employees brought to mind that wonderful sitcom “Cheers” you know the place where everybody knows everybody’s name.
