PATCHOGUE, NY — Without community leaders, Patchogue wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

She's past president of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Women's Club of Patchogue, past president and charter member of the Patchogue Lioness Lions Club where, almost 20 years ago, she started a fundraiser for the club "Walk for a Guide Dog".

To date, she helped raise money to sponsor 37 guide dog puppies, totaling over $22,000. In 2003, she was cited by the Town of Brookhaven for recognition of outstanding contributions to the community and for efforts to improve the quality of life in Brookhaven. In 2004, she received the "Woman of the Year" award from the Town of Brookhaven. She also has received numerous awards through Lions Club International for her volunteerism and service.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

She is always the first to volunteer. She loves her community and will do what she can to help improve the community.
