- St. Joseph's in Patchogue had its petition of status elevation approved, and now the institution is called St. Joseph's University. President Donald R. Boomgaarden announced the good news in a release on Thursday. (Patchogue Patch)
- Miss Beth will you teach you how to Sculpt-a-Chick! The clay class will be held at the Patchogue-Medford Public Library on April 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. Kids aged 3 to 5 are welcome. (PMPL)
- April has been the month of new businesses opening in Patchogue. This month, seven new business owners chose to celebrate their doors opening with ribbon-cut ceremonies, a record in the Village. (Greater Patchogue)
- A distribution center is planned in a vacant 48-acre industrial property south of the Long Island Expressway and east of William Floyd Parkway in Shirley. The construction plan may start next week. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
- Dimitri Robert, 27, who is accused of the murder of his brother, Devontary Robert, 17, is sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. Dimitry was in a custody battle in 2019 and accused his mother of helping the mother of his kids to keep them away from him. Devontary had just graduated from Longwood High School and was shot while sitting in his mom's rented car. (Port Jefferson Patch)
