  1. Newsday published an article about the influx of warehouse projects on Long Island that can lead to overbuilding. According to the report, multiple warehouses are vacant, and the ones already in construction "will most likely go over storage needs on Long Island." (Newsday/Subscription Required)
  2. Police continue looking for three men connected to the catalytic converter theft in Holtsville. The crime occurred at 5:10 a.m. on Sept. 15. Cameras showed the suspects coming out of a silver Mercedes on Gazebo Lane and stealing the mechanical part from a parked Honda Accord. (Daily Voice)
  3. Patchogue-Medford Public Library is hosting the "Birds of Prey." Friends from the Sweetbriar in Smithtown are coming on Monday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. to lead the event to teach all about owls, falcons and hawks. Registration is required. (Patch)
  4. Twenty-two license plate readers are expected to be installed in various spots on the Southern State Parkway. According to officials, the readers will help police identify drivers with arrest warrants and give feedback on traffic situations. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
