Here are the top four stories today in Patchogue:

  1. The Town of Brookhaven Holiday Light Spectacular Holtsville Ecology Site and Animal Preserve kicks off Saturday, Dec. 3, from 5 to 9 p.m. The event features an indoor walk-through holiday festive display with lots of photo opportunities for those who want to enjoy the season's magic! Tickets can be purchased here. (Town of Brookhaven)
  2. Patchogue Parks & Recreation Department invites the community to Walk Through Zoo and enjoy the Holiday Vendors' Market on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. The facility is at 380 Bay Avenue in Patchogue. The event is free of charge. Just so you know, everyone is welcome to come. (Patchogue Village)
  3. A Holiday Boutique will be set up at the Saint John's Greek Orthodox Church at 77 Montauk Highway in Blue Point. Vendors, Greek food, crafts and more will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. (Patch)
  4. Bohemia residents are talking about a unique visitor that showed up on Louis Kossuth Avenue and Maddison Street. A bear was caught on camera on Monday night. When the police arrived at the scene, the bear was gone! (LI News12)

  • Patchogue Medford Public Library will host a candle-making workshop for kids in grades K-3. Teacher Chrissy will lead participants to create their scented candles on Thursday, Nov 17, at 4:30 p.m. (Patch)
  • Patchogue-Medford Library is helping the kids with their homework. For those who need extra help, St. Joseph's School of Education will tutor the kids every Wednesday in November and December. No registration is required. (Patchogue CofC)
  • The cyberattack that all but crippled Suffolk County's web-based applications in September was proceeded by a series of incidents highlighting the system's vulnerabilities and possible intrusions, prompting some department heads to plead for better security, according to a report." (Patch)
