Patchogue Train Station Gets $3 Million For Upgrades

The MTA is working on a site plan and anticipates construction to begin sometime throughout next year.

The Patchogue Village train station will receive $3 million through a state capital investment project to reduce idling train noise, state officials announced.

Earlier this week, Assemb. Dean Murray (R,C,I-East Patchogue), Andrew Garbarino (R,C,I-Sayville) and Senate majority leader John Flanagan (R,C,I-East Northport) announced the project, which includes a new rail to the west of the station away from residential areas.

“The primary responsibility of any elected official is to be responsive to the needs of constituents, and idling trains are one of the most important factors impacting the quality of life for those living near the station,” Murray told the Long Island Advance.

The new rail will allow once-idling trains to be service-ready without disturbing residents, Murray said.

Murray said the track will be built on LIRR-owned property past West Avenue sometime next year. The construction will not cause delays in service, he said.
