1. Patchogue Village celebrates Hispanic Cultural Heritage month with a parade on Main Street. The Hispanic Cultural Heritage Parade kicks off on Sunday, Oct. 2, at noon. Rain or shine. (Village of Patchogue)
2. Attention book worms, the Patchogue Library will have a book sale on Saturday, Oct 1, at 10 a.m. Main Street is the place for those looking to purchase books for all ages at a reasonable price! (Patch Events)
3. Patchogue Arts Council invites the community to the Coffee with a Curator featuring artist John Cino. The exhibition "Resonance," curated by Cino, will be discussed in person at 20 Terry St. in Patchogue and via Zoom on Oct. 1 from 11 to noon. (Patchogue Chamber of Commerce)
4. Pat-Med School district will host a public information meeting about the vote on the proposal to improve the ventilation system in the school's building. The session is set for Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. the in the Saxton Middle School Auditorium. (Pat-Med School District)
5. Nearby News: Andrew Frey, 57, of Coram, was charged with sex trafficking and kidnapping on Sept. 20. Two women said they escaped from Frey's car after being threatened with a knife after refusing to follow him to remote locations. Police searched his vehicle and found handcuffs, knives and ropes. If convicted, he may face 15 years imprisonment. (Patch)
