Here are the top four stories today in Patchogue:
- A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run on Veterans Memorial Highway early Sunday morning. A passing motorist called 911 to report a body on the side of the road. Officials declared Alan Lepre, of Holbrook, dead at the scene. No arrests were made. (Daily Voice)
- The Medford Fire Department officials request that Eagle States development residents check their electrical meters. The recall is after two malfunctioning meters caused fires in the area. Firefighters advise all rotted/rusted boxes should be replaced. (Patch)
- Suffolk County Girl Scouts Light Show kicks off on Saturday At Smith Point Park in Shirley. This year the Enchanted Forest is a unique addition to the event, which will run through Dec. 30. The "Chill Zone” is where visitors can enjoy music, games and a fire pit. (Patch)
- The Brookhaven board approved a $329.7 million budget for 2023 with a vote of 6-0 on Thursday. With the new plan, property taxes are expected to increase by 1.92% on standard homes. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
