Pickup Driver Seriously Hurt in 2-Car Patchogue Crash

Three people were injured, one seriously, in the crash Saturday evening.

PATCHOGUE, NY – Three people were hurt, including a 34-year-old man who was seriously hurt, in a two-car crash in Patchogue Saturday evening, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, Erik Pedersen was driving a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck south on Waverly Avenue when his vehicle was struck by a 2005 Volvo making a left turn onto Gateway Boulevard at about 5:35 p.m.

Pedersen, of Patchogue, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with a serious head injury. The driver of the Volvo, Nancy Kelly, 59, and her passenger Lawrence Kelly, 62, both of Bayport, were taken to Stony Brook with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Anyone with information on the crash can contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.

A 44-year-old woman was critically injured in a crash at the same intersection last month.
